First Eucharist

EucharistFirst Holy Communion or Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian Life. The other sacraments, indeed, all the ministries and apostolic works of the Church, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely, Christ Himself.

Requirements for First Eucharist:

  • Baptized children who are 7 years of age (second grade).
  • Must have a minimum of one year of formal religious education prior to the period of formal First Eucharist catechesis.
  • Family must commit to home-based lessons with parent or guardian (work on lessons in the text).
  • Parents must attend Mandatory Preparation Meeting.

Classes will begin January 2012 and the date for the reception of Confirmation and First Eucharist is April 22, 2012.

If you have questions contact the Directory of Religious Education, Sharon Clizer, at the parish center, 509-758-6102.
